The Variable Message Sign (VMS) is a dynamic electronic traffic control device that provides critical information to road users.  These big, high-visibility screens are often erected on gantries or at roadside sites and can display text, symbols, or basic images.

Their major role is to improve road safety and regulate traffic flow with real-time information.  This includes notifications about upcoming accidents, congestion, inclement weather, or construction, helping drivers to make educated judgments.  They are also used to regulate lanes, display speed advisories, and broadcast public messages like as Amber Alerts.  VMS systems, which provide flexible and instantaneous communication, are an important tool for contemporary traffic management, helping to prevent accidents and enhance route dependability on highways and in urban areas.
