A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) provides immediate battery-backed power during mains failure, ensuring connected devices like computers and servers shut down safely without data loss. An Inverter, conversely, is a power conversion system. It converts DC power from batteries (charged by mains electricity) into AC power for appliances. The critical difference is the switch-over time; inverters have a slight delay (a few milliseconds), making them suitable for homes and non-critical devices like lights and fans during prolonged power cuts. Essentially, a UPS is a fast-response inverter system with integrated components for seamless protection.
