Foam Based Portable Fire Extinguishers

Foam-based portable fire extinguishers are highly effective on Class A (solid combustibles like wood and paper) and Class B (flammable liquids like petrol and oil) fires. They work by smothering the flames and sealing the fuel's surface to prevent re-ignition.

When deployed, the extinguisher discharges a thick, aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) blanket. This foam cools the burning material while creating a barrier that cuts off the fire's oxygen supply and stops flammable vapours from releasing. A key advantage is the foam's ability to cling to vertical surfaces, providing lasting protection.

These extinguishers are identified by a cream-coloured label and are crucial for high-risk areas such as workshops, garages, and industrial settings involving flammable liquids. They are not suitable for Class C (gas) or Class F (cooking oil) fires.
